Lailah

Dear Friends,

Like many of you, I’m a camper parent. I want my kids to have a chance to explore, grow, and simply enjoy being a kid.

The same is true for another campership parent, Marie. She searched high and low for a place where nine-year-old Lailah could enhance her development as she spends her summer outdoors, away from screens, surrounded by caring role models and new friends.

This year, that opportunity became possible.

As a widowed mother raising four children, Marie knew that attending camp would have been out of reach without financial assistance.

Receiving a Camp for All Kids scholarship, she says, was life-changing.

From the moment she arrived at Camp Kamaji, Lailah embraced every opportunity and tried tons of new activities.

But what has meant the most isn’t what she’s done – it’s how quickly she’s found a place where she truly belongs.

Her counselors describe Lailah as an absolute superstar in cabin life. They shared that she begins each day with respect, kindness, and enthusiasm, taking pride in herself, her cabin, and her camp community.

Whether representing the yellow Mundhamin Tribe or helping make Cocoon Cabin feel like home, Lailah has quickly become someone who helps make camp brighter for everyone around her – with a smile that goes from ear to ear.

Now, after just one summer, Lailah already has a new name for camp: her second home.

Knowing her daughter is so comfortable has helped Marie treasure every letter she’s received from Lailah. In one of her first, she wrote something that made her mom laugh:

“I’m ready to stay for eight weeks!”

For Marie, that’s all the confirmation she needed to make sure Lailah will return to Kamaji for years to come – building the friendships, community, and sense of belonging that make camp such a transformative experience.

Your generosity has made this possible.

Thank you for giving children like Lailah the opportunity to discover a place where they can grow, build strong friendships, make lasting memories, and find a true sense of belonging.

With gratitude,
